Product Summary

Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Sporting #3 Rifle, 45/90 Caliber Md: S.780-459
“SHARPS PTD” The name that shooters and collectors all over the world dream about.
To satisfy the request of our customers and shooters, some years ago, Pedersoli started a project for the production of one of the most famous rifles of the American Civil War era. The range of rifles includes all the most significant versions among the paper cartridge and the metal cartridge models. For all models we have used the best materials and latest techniques, so to ensure a top quality product. The most important parts are machined from forged metals for maximum durability and strength and the deep rifling is broached and ensures excellent results in long distance shooting.

All the models are drilled and tapped to install the Creedmoor sights and the front tunnel sights with interchangeable inserts, except for the military models.
Among the Sharps 1874 models you can find the Sporting model with octagonal blued barrel, adjustable front sight and double set trigger.

*****Does NOT include Creedmoor sight.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 45-90 Winchester was introduced in 1886 in the John Browning-designed 1886 Winchester. Utilizing the 1886's full action length, it is essentially an extended 45-70 cartridge, using the same .458-inch bullet but with a 2.394-inch case and 90 grains of blackpowder, substantially increasing velocity. Although never as popular as the 45-70, it was more powerful and considered far superior on larger game. Smokeless loads were available after 1895, including a high-velocity load with a 300-grain bullet at 1950 feet per second. The 45-90 remained in production until 1936. It is currently chambered in reproductions of vintage rifles and ammunition is available from specialty suppliers. — Craig Boddington
