45 Glock Automatic Pistol (GAP)
45 Glock Automatic Pistol (45 GAP) was introduced by Glock in 2003. Ballistically similar to 45 Auto +P, it uses a shorter case that 45 ACP (.7598-inch versus .898-inch), allowing it to be housed in a more compact frame. 45 Glock uses the same .452-inch bullet as the 45 ACP, loaded to the same 23,000 psi as 45 Auto +P. With some loads velocity with 230-grain bullet exceeds 1000 feet per second, offering considerably more stopping power than standard 45 ACP loads--but with enhanced recoil. 45 Glock has not become nearly as popular as the long-entrenched 45 ACP, but both ammuniton and handguns so chambered are readily available from multiple sources. — Craig Boddington
