Product Summary

Unlike other types of rifles, doubles were developed expressly for hunting. They have no military, target shooting, or other extraneous applications. But, they do what they were designed to do very well indeed. The MP221 is a double barreled rifle or double rifle and is a type of sporting rifle with two barrels instead of one, available in a side-by-side configuration. The double rifle is one of the family of combination guns, because of their ability to fire two quick shots, and are often used for the hunting of dangerous game in Africa. This double rifle can fire two shots faster than any other type of sporting rifle because there is no action that must be operated to reload for the second shot. Baikal realized that you could not make a reasonably priced side by side rifle with the traditional method of barrel regulation. The MP221 features a sight in one barrel and can adjust the second barrel point of impact via a jackscrew between the barrels. If a cartridge load has been changed the mean impact point of each barrel can be zeroed to a common center via ribless joint of barrel unit, loose fit of right barrel in the sleeve and a jack-type horizontal adjuster, this innovative concept of barrel unit provides for close and stable patterning. The MP221 also features a auto tang safety, double triggers, adjustable sights, 11mm scope rail or picatinny rail. Machined steel receiver and mono block, hammer forged chrome lined barrel, checkered walnut stock and forend, and extractors.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
Properly "Caliber 30 Model of 1906," the 30-06 was developed at Springfield Armory for the 1903 Springfield rifle. The original 1903 cartridge, though very similar, used a round-nosed 220-grain bullet; the 1906 version used a 150-grain spitzer bullet with a slightly shorter case neck and case length of 2.494-inches. The 30-06, in Springfield, 1917 Enfield, and M1 Garand rifles, remained America's service cartridge through the Korean War. It was the most powerful cartridge ever adopted by a major military, and over time became America's most popular hunting cartridge. Today there are many good choices, but the 30-06 remains extremely popular throughout the world, suited for most North American big game and equally effective for African plains game. The most common standard loads today feature: 150-grain bullet at 2910 feet per second; 165-grain bullet at 2800 fps; and 180-grain bullet at 2700 fps. Choices in both rifles and ammunition are almost limitless.  — Craig Boddington
