Based on the Mark V action, it features a chrome moly receiver, with weight trimming alloy follower and floorplate. Deepened and widened flutes on the bolt reduce weight, along with a skeletonized bolt handle and bolt sleeve. Weight reducing flutes are also employed on the 410 Series stainless steel 26" special contour barrel (.583 muzzle diameter), which features an accuracy enhancing recessed field crown. Rounding out the ultra lightweight is a specially designed, hand laminated, raised comb, Monte Carlo composite stock (a combination of Aramid, graphite unidirectional fibers and fiberglass), precisely inletted to accept a molded in, CNC machined aluminum bedding plate that stiffens the receiver area of the rifle when the barreled action is secured to the block. A Pachmayr decelerator recoil pad dissipates recoil. Flat shooting. Hard hitting. Ultra lightweight.

Caliber Dictionary
The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 270 Weatherby Magnum was developed by Roy Weatherby in 1944 and was one of the original offerings when his gun company was founded a year later. Based on the belted 300 H&H case shortened to 2.549 inches, it can be housed in 30-06 length-actions and is easily the fastest 270-caliber cartridge, shooting flatter than the others and delivering more energy. Weatherby loads include a 130-grain bullet at 3375 feet per second and a 150-grain bullet at 3245, very high velocity that makes it one of the flattest-shooting commercial cartridges and a fine choice for hunting game up to elk at longer ranges. It is the second-most popular Weatherby Magnum cartridge (after the 300 Weatherby Magnum). Federal also offers factory loads, and a few other rifle manufacturers have offered 270 Weatherby Magnum rifles. — Craig Boddington
