The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 22 TCM is an Armscor proprietary 22 centerfire intended for use in handguns and carbines. Designed by Fred Craig, it was originally called (and publicized as) the 22 Micromag, but became the 22 TCM when adopted by Armscor. TCM stands for Tuason (Armscor president), Craig, and Micromag. It is based on a 222 Remington case shortened to 1.022-inch and necked to 22 caliber. Its original platform was a 1911 with double-stack magazine; the pistol was supplied with a barrel and recoil spring in 9mm Luger, and the magazine accepted both cartridges. Using a 40-grain bullet, handgun velocities run about 2000 feet per second, while the same load generates 2800 fps in a carbine-length barrel. In a rifle the 22 TCM thus exceeds the 22 Hornet, and in a handgun greatly exceeds the 22 Magnum. —
