While friends who are instructors at Front Sight firearms training facility in Nevada encourage me to not rely on a laser for target acquisition, they are many years younger than I am (age 71), their vision and reaction time are better and their experience much greater. I have used many brands of pistols while younger which did not have a laser. I carried a Glock 30 with a Crimson laser for ten years. My friends went from being "hard core" COLT users to the Springfield XDM, and after SIG SAUER introduced the P320, they tried that and jumped away from the XDM and fell in love with the P320 X-Carry and the P365. I purchased a P320 X-Carry. After I saw the LIMA5 (now labeled as "LIMA320") laser grip module which SIG SAUER had designed, I felt that with my particular needs and experience, target acquisition was more important than having 17 rounds in the magazine with the X-Carry and the 15 rounds which the laser grip module would accept, I bought a LIMA5 laser grip module red. I am partly color blind, and the shade of the color is more important than which color, and being the red laser doesn't use up the battery like the green, I bought the red. I like the feel of the grip on the SIG Compact and the LIMA5 grip module better than the grip on the X-Carry. The take down of the P320 is amazingly simple, and after putting the slide on the LIMA5 grip, I measured the difference in height between the LIMA5/320 and the original: only 1/4" more! The holsters I prefer are leather, and were easily stretched to accommodate the added 1/4". The rubber button/switch that activates the laser is in a very good location - on the grip where the middle finger wraps around the grip. I greatly appreciated the position of the LIMA5/320 in that it was in line with the barrel, and adjusted it for 30 feet away. The Crimson on the side of the Glock 30 was below and to the side of trajectory, which was an issue with me. I started carrying the SIG P320 with the amazingly fantastic (my opinion) LIMA5/320 laser grip module and sold the Glock 30, sold the SIG P220, sold the XDM, and sold the S&W I had. I now have ONE style of pistol, of which I am buying another with the 40 S&W cartridge, being I have a lot of ammo of that caliber. I tried the SIG P320 45 ACP, and while the slide fit the LIMA5, the magazine would not fit into the mag well. So I sold the SIG 45. I suggest you try a SIG P320 (I like the Compact 3.9" with the great fitting grip). If you buy one, seriously consider trying to acquire a LIMA320 / LIMA5 laser grip module.
