Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Stainless Rifle 264 Win Mag 24" Barrel 4 Round Stainless Finish Walnut Stock

2018 SHOT Show Special — Light weight bolt-action hunting rifle with classic looks. Checkered satin finish stock with Schnabel forearm, lighter Featherweight barrel profile, controlled round feed, Pachmayr pad.

The legendary handling and quickness of the Model 70 Featherweight. Few rifles can be identified in an instant like the Featherweight. It is justly famous among hunters everywhere. The Model 70 action offers Pre-’64 style Controlled Round Feeding, a Three-Position Safety and is highlighted by a jeweled bolt body with knurled bolt handle. Inside is the M.O.A. Trigger System, the finest trigger ever offered in a bolt-action with zero take up, zero creep and zero overtravel. Like the original Featherweight, the angled comb Grade I walnut stock still features the Schnabel fore-end and satin finish with elegant cut checkering. A premium Pachmayr® Decelerator® pad helps soak up felt recoil. It’s available in the most popular long and short action calibers, including WSM chamberings.

Be part of the ongoing generation of Featherweight owners. Generations of serious hunters have made the Model 70 Featherweight the iconic all-around rifle for any hunt. Easy-to-carry, accurate and utterly reliable, the Featherweight is ideal for deer, varmints, hogs and antelope.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 264 Winchester Magnum was introduced in 1958 in a 26-inch-barreled version of the beloved Winchester Model 70 called the "Westerner." It was a companion introduction to the 338 Winchester Magnum in the Model 70 "Alaskan." Initial reception to the 264 was spectacular, but its star began to fade as shooters realized original factory loads weren't quite as fast as claimed, and throat erosion (in 1958 barrel steel) was rapid. Remington's 1962 introduction of the more powerful 7mm Remington Magnum put another nail in the 264's coffin and it has essentially lingered ever since. This is probably unfair. With a 140-grain 6.5mm bullet at 3030 feet per second it is flat-shooting and effective, with relatively little recoil. It is as designed: A fine cartridge for western hunting! Although a serious comeback is unlikely, the current upsurge of interest in virtually all 6.5mm cartridges is benefitting the 264, with more new rifles and loads available than in many years. — Craig Boddington
