My first impressions of the pistol were mostly positive. It has the general appearance of being well made and the color scheme made it look more attractive than a drab all black pistol. I especially like aggressiveness of the grips and the ease of use of the the white three-dot sights. The magazine fits as it should and ejects smoothly and completely. As a side note, the plastic case that the pistol comes in is far superior to most factory cases. It has solid latches and very good hinges. The grip safety will take some getting use to. It must be depressed about twice as far as my other 1911 pistols. The spring tension on the grip safety is also stronger. I may have to disassemble the gun and ease the tension some. All other descriptions of this pistol indicated that it came from the factory with two magazines. This one was only furnished with one, although the second magazine slot in the case had been readied for a second magazine. The one included magazine has significant scratches on it as if it had been installed in the gun quite a few times. Hopefully this was from checking the gun when made and not as a result of a returned product. The pistol does not have a barrel bushing so the takedown is somewhat different than a traditional 1911 but is similar to other bull-barrel pistols. Generally, this Taurus appears to be a good value pistol that might need a second look at the quality control station. I will likely shoot it a lot and maybe even carry it but I resent having to purchase a second magazine and working on a spring to make the pistol easier to handle and shoot.
