Introduced by Smith & Wesson in 1885, the New Model No. 3 Frontier had a long cylinder that could fire a .44 Winchester cartridge. The Frontier model features a blued forged steel frame, blued parts, and a unique two-piece walnut grip that includes brass medallions. The Frontier barrel latch opens up and forward similarly to the Russian latch design, but includes a target rear sight blade for improved accuracy.
