Product Summary

Federal HOA 28 Gauge 2.75 In 3/4 Oz #8 Shot 1250 Fps 25 Rounds

Federal High Over All Competition Target Load Shotshells are excellent competition loads designed with trap, skeet, and sporting clay shooters in mind. The one-piece Podium wad produces very consistent patterns. High Over All comes with a solid brass head and one-piece, tapered hull. With hard, high-antimony lead pellets, the High Over All Target Loads from Federal hit hard and resist deformation on impact. An excellent competition load for the best shooters.

The Federal Premium loads start with the finest primers, which are subjected to more frequent inspections for dimensional tolerances and charge weight to ensure they deliver consistent ignition for every shot. Next is the propellants, which are specially formulated to meet Federal's stringent specifications. These clean-burning powders are of the highest grades in the industry. They're consistent and reliable. Engineered for the most elite trap, skeet and sporting clays shooters, Federal Premium High Over All leaves a trail of shattered targets in its wake and more reloads per shell. Its hard, high-antimony lead payload and exclusive one-piece Podium wad produce the most consistent patterns, while the solid brass head and tapered, one-piece hull make reloading easier than ever. It's the ultimate competition load for the world's best shooters.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 28 gauge was introduced in 1903 by Parker Brothers, famous for double-barrel shotguns. With a nominal bore diameter of .550-inch, it is considered a "small gauge" shotgun, and 28 gauge is one of the four officlal events in American skeet. Case length is 2 3/4 inches and the standard charge is just 3/4-ounce of shot. That said, with modern shells the 28 gauge is surprisingly effective on both clay targets and upland birds. Although definitely an "expert's shotgun," the 28 gauge has the advantage of low recoil, can be built into very light shotguns, and is much more effective than the .410. Over the years it was kept alive mostly by serious skeet shooters, but today is often chosen by serious upland bird hunters. Because of pellet count it is most effective with smaller shot sizes (7 1/2, 8, and 9), so is rarely employed by waterfowlers. — Craig Boddington
