You can easily set the geared declination from the bottom of the compass, because the declination is facing you when using the gear screw. The bezel and grip are also convenient and easy to use. The clinometer lets you measure angles of inclination. Other added benefits include: a map magnifier, luminous points, cover clip and lanyard with adjustable slider and screwdriver. 2° graduations. The Ranger CLQ utilizes quadrant graduations N(0°); E(90°); S(0°); W(90°).

Testimonials
I bought my first Silva Ranger compass back in 1979 when I was 19 years old. I know that I’m dating myself, but I felt obligated to say thanks for a trusted “friend” that has lasted longer than any other piece of equipment I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned 3 Rangers over the years, all of which are still as silky smooth as the day I bought them. If fact, I’m looking forward to my Rangers providing another 27 years of service in the bush. That is, if I can last that long.
