Product Summary

The Barrett model 82A1 .416 rifle system is a semi-auto action rifle with a 29" chrome-lined barrel. Included is a pelican case, one 10-round magazine, carry handle, flip-up iron sights, M1913 optics rail, detachable adjustable bipod legs, sling attach points, cleaning kit and owner's manual. Scope not included on this model.

Perfection isn’t accomplished overnight. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Model 82A1. For more than two decades, this short-recoil, semi-automatic series rifle has been carefully honed, studied and then refined again. The result is a feat of engineering so impossibly precise, it’s hard to believe it’s man-made. Unlike other semi-automatic .50 BMG rifles, the Model 82A1 is completely reliable. Its chamber is chrome-plated and dimensioned for both civilian and military ammunition. The extractor and ejector are proven to work under any condition, and close tolerances on every part allow it to function in all environments.

The new .416 caliber alternative further adds to the allure of the Model 82A1. With enhanced accuracy and stability, not to mention a significantly higher muzzle velocity, the .416 offers incredible long-range precision. Its re-engineered muzzle brake, dual barrel springs and long mainspring design make the 82A1 comfortable and — dare we say — exciting to shoot.

The Model 82A1 fits into a regular sized carrying case. Although it’s transported as a disassembled upper and lower receiver, it can be ready to fire in under a minute by simply inserting two assembly pins through both receivers. The scope remains mounted on the upper receiver, maintaining scope zero. The rifle’s M1913 optics rail is tapered 27 MOA to take full advantage of the scope’s elevation travel.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 416 Barrett was introduced by Chris Barrett in 2007. It is based on the 50 BMG case shortened and necked down to accept a .416-inch bullet, thus requires the very largest action. It is a highly specialized cartridge intended for extreme rangel shooting, and was designed for areas where 50 BMG rifles are restricted. Barrett's ammunition uses an aerodynamic 395-grain solid bullet, producing 3300 feet per second and over 9500 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. The 416 Barrett offers superb performance well beyond 2000 yards, but rifles so chambered must of necessity be extremely heavy...and even then recoil is significant. — Craig Boddington
