Pedersoli Springfield Model 1861 US Percussion 58 caliber Rifle
The 1861 was the standard musket in use during the Civil War and is now a favorite of re-enactors. This is the musket that fired the dreaded minie bullet. Our full stock musket is made of European walnut with an oil finish. All of the metal parts are beautifully polished steel. The barrel is 40 inches in length. The workmanship and accuracy of this musket are truly outstanding. There are many other 1861's on the market, but they do not have the quality of workmanship of this Pedersoli.
One piece American walnut fullstock. Has a satin finish. 52 ½” length. Barrel is .58 caliber – armory bright – 40” tapered round. 1 in 72” twist. Front sight is one piece steel base & blade. Rear sight is steel w/2 flip ups. Features steel furniture – armory bright. Lockplate is engraved “US” over “Springfield” with eagle and “1861” on tail. Barrel is marked “1861” “VP” and eagle head. Barrel bands marked w/”U”. Buttplate is marked “US”. 56 inches overall and weighs 10 pounds. Recommened load is 60 gr FFg black powder, .570 round ball with .015 patch or a .575 minie.
