The .425 Express cartridge was designed in 1987 for African hunts by Cameron Hopkins and Whit Collins along with a prototype rifle for this patron John French.The initial model of the weapon for the .425 Express cartridge was a Ruger mod. 77 with bolt lock. The cartridge is based on a slightly shortened .300 Winchester Magnum case. This can propel a 400 grain bullet at 2400 FPS and fits in a standard long action. — Wholesale Hunter
