45-110 Sharps
The .45-110 Sharps also known as the .45 2 7/8" Sharps Straight was the longest factory case loaded by the Sharps Rifle Company. Up until January of 1877 this case was loaded with 90 grains of black powder and a 500-grain paper-patched slug. Thereafter it was loaded with 100 grains of black powder and the same 500 grain projectile. This cartridge was one of many Sharps cartridges used for hunting the great buffalo herds of the old west. Today most black powder cartridges are used for reenactments and Hollywood Old West movies. However, when these cartridges can be loaded with smokeless powder and is good for hunting North American big game for an experienced hunter. — Wholesale Hunter
