The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
Developed in 1944, the 7mm Weatherby Magnum was one of Roy Weatherby's original cartridges, based on the 300 H&H case shortened, necked down, body taper removed, and of course with Weatherby's signature "double Venturi" shoulder. Although popular within the Weatherby line, it is unclear why this cartridge hasn't become more widespread. Although Weatherby's Norma-loaded ammunition gives it an advantage, it is significantly faster than the 7mm Remington Magnum--at least 100 fps in all bullet weights--yet, like the 7mm Remington Magnum, its 2.55-inch case allows it to housed in a standard (30-06-length) action. Obviously it is flat-shooting and powerful enough for a huge variety of game...and probably deserves greater popularity than it has attained. — Craig Boddington
