Product Summary

Henry Repeating Arms Rifle Big Boy Steel Lever Action Rifle, .41 Magnum 20" Barrel, 10-Round Magazine Capacity, Matte-Finished Blued Steel Frame, Walnut Stock Md: H012M41

While we are fond of the brass tradition begun by B.T. Henry’s 1860 rifle, we do understand that today’s hunter may prefer something a shade lighter on the mountain, and the 2015 introduction of the Big Boy Steel carries on the same brush gun appeal of the brass-framed Big Boys in its overall configuration, but with upgraded features for the modern hunter, while weighing in 1.68 lbs. less than its shiny cousin.

The 7 lbs. steel Big Boy hangs its 20” round barrel and checkered walnut furniture on a matte-finished blued steel frame that’s drilled & tapped for optional scope mounts, and uses the same adjustable Western-style sights as the standard Big Boy, with the same sliding transfer bar “safety” system in its hammer. Most of the weight savings is due to the steel frame being lighter than a brass counterpart to begin with, and less steel in the thinner barrel walls than an octagon version.

To make sure the steel Big Boy stays easy on the shoulder in any of its three calibers, the .357 Magnum/.38 Special, .44 Magnum/.44 Special, and .45 Colt; we’ve added a ventilated rubber recoil pad. For hands-free hiking up or down, it wears sling swivel studs; and we’ve also added a rifle-style fore-end cap instead of the usual carbine-type barrel band.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 41 Remington Magnum was developed by Remington introduced in 1964 in the Smith & Wesson Model 57. The 41 Magnum was envisioned a revolver cartridge for law enforcement use that offered more power and penetraion than the 357, but with less recoil than the 44 Remington Magnum. Using case length of 1.290-inches and a .410-caliber bullet, the 41 Magnum is an extremely effective and powerful revolver cartridge. The most common standard load features a 210-grain bullet at 1300 feet per second, yielding 790 foot-pounds. Although adopted by few law enforcement agencies, in part because of recoil and in part because of the near-wholesale shift to semiautomatics, the 41 Magnum is an excellent load for handgun hunting, much more effective than the 357 Magnum for deer-sized game. It is currently seeing some resugence in popularity. — Craig Boddington
