Product Summary

Cimarron 1873 SA .44-40 EVIL ROY 7-1/2" Barrel

Made along the lines of the classic peacemaker-style revolver, like those used by the professional shootists of the Old West, Cimarron's Evil Roy Competition SA has features favored by renown SASS World Champion and SASS National Champion shooter Gene "Evil Roy" Pearcey. What sets this sixgun apart from other single actions are the wide square-notch rear sight and wide constant width front sight, along with slim checkered grips for a better and firmer hand fit, and an action tuned in the U.S. by Cimarron's skilled gunsmiths. This fine tuning incorporates Cimarron’s made in USA competition hammer and trigger/bolt springs that are lighter, smoother and permit a crisp, no-creep trigger pull, and improved internal parts to enhance reliability. Each Evil Roy six-shooter wears his SASS signature, roll engraved on the barrel. Available in Standard Blue or Stainless Steel, This Evil Roy competition single actions are offered in a 7 1/2 -inch barrel. With the Evil Roy, you'll have the tool to shoot like a champion!

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 44-40 Winchester (44 WCF) was introduced by Winchester in 1873 in their Model 1873 lever action. The '73, "the gun that won the West," was the first truly successful repeater, and its 44-40 cartridge was quickly adopted by other manufacturers, including both Colt and Smith & Wesson in revolvers. Using a .427-inch bullet, the standard load features a 200-grain bullet at about 1100 feet per second, producing 588 foot-pounds of energy. This is not a lot of power, but the 44-40 was probaby the most popular sporting cartridge of the 19th Century, accounting for untold amounts of game. It remained the most popular chambering in the 1892 Winchester, and was a common chambering in both rifles and handguns at least through the 1940s. The growth in Cowboy Action shooting has revived it; the 44-40 has less recoil than the 45 Colt, and serves as a common chambering for rifles and revolvers. Ammo is readily available and it is chambered to numerous reissues and reproductions. — Craig Boddington

I am pretty impressed with the quality of this revolver. You get a lot for the money on this one. The action feels like it has had a nice work over and when you cock the hammer it just sounds like a nice peace of machinery. The only negative for me is that the revolver shoots about 2 1/2 inches to theright and a couple of inches high at 12 yards. I will have to have a Gunsmith turn the barrel to get the windage correct for my eye. Not a knock on the gun, that's just how it is with a fixed sight handgun. I like it !
