Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 6.5 Creedmoor was introduced by Hornady in 2008. Uniquely, it was designed for accuracy with long-range competition in mind. Using a 308 Winchester (30 TC, 300 Savage) case shortened to 1.920 inches, it will feed through the shortest existing bolt actions, but remains supersonic to well beyond 1000 yards. Standard velocity is a 140-grain .264-inch bullet at 2820 fps, also making it an effective but mild-recoiling medium-range hunting cartridge. The 6.5 Creedmoor was introduced with little fanfare, but after it started winning matches shooters took notice. This is an unusual phenomenon for a cartridge to suddenly "take off" years after its introduction, but that's the story of the 6.5 Creedmoor--after about 2016 it became one of the most-talked-about cartridges, with both rifle and ammunition offerings expanding rapidly. — Craig Boddington

If you have a semi-auto this is your best ammo choice. Think about it the distance between the bullet tip and the casing shoulder is longer than the barrel extension. This means your bullet tip is likely to encounter the chamber counter bore or the feed ramps. Either way this contact will impact the tip concentricity and thus accuracy. The S&B FMJ is the most resilient tip you will find in this caliber and not subject to this type inaccuracy. The muzzle velocities are very consistent. Usually around 0.7 MOA at 100 yards. Try the Hornady white tail SP for comparison and you get a 7.0 MOA because of this effect. In a bolt gun the price performance is great and the casings are very good quality for reloading. Hope they make a 6mmCM the problem is even more prevalent there.

I was pleasantly surprise at the quality and accuracy of the S&B 6.5 CM ammo. I had read review about problems extracting and poor over quality. I had none of these. The ammo out of the box looks as good as any I have purchased from other companies. When fired from my new Ruger Precision Rifle I got groups well under MOA at 100 yards. Now I have gotten smaller groups from this rifle with other ammo but the ammo cost twice as much as the Sellier & Bellot. I will be purchasing more.
