Weatherby's Vanguard rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group of .99" or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition. Vanguard rifles are equipped with a match quality, two-stage trigger (adjustable down to 2.5 lbs.) and a 3-position safety, with the middle position allowing the shooter to work the action while safety is still engaged. The Vanguard action incorporates a one-piece machined bolt body, fluted for reduction in weight and bearing surface area, while eliminating binding for smooth action. Three gas ports allow high-pressure gases to escape laterally in the event of an accidental case rupture, and the massive M-16-style extractor ensures reliable and positive extraction. Vanguard rifles have a one-piece machined receiver featuring an integral recoil lug for the utmost in strength and structural integrity, along with a one-piece trigger guard with a hinged floorplate for easy access to unfired cartridges in the magazine. The Badlands model has a synthetic Monte Carlo stock with textured forearm and grip areas, right side palm swell, and features a Badlands Approach camoflage finish. It also has a cold hammer-forged barrel with a #2 barrel contour. Badland models have a Burnt Bronze Cerakote metal finish. This model is chambered for 7mm-08 Remington.

Caliber Dictionary
The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
Based on the 308 Winchester case necked down, the 7mm-08 Remington was an obvious and popular wildcat cartridge before its adoption by Remington in 1980. Performance is very similar to the 7x57 Mauser, except that the 7mm-08's 2.0457-inch case can be housed in short actions, and because it's a recent cartridge chambered to modern rifles 7mm-08 ammunition is loaded to higher pressure. The 7mm-08 has become extremely popular; like the 7x57 it is an ideal whitetail cartridge, and an excellent choice for hunters who want accuracy, efficiency, and versatility without a lot of recoil and muzzle blast. Both rifles and ammunition are offered by most manufacturers, with the most common load featuring a 140-grain bullet at 2860 fps. With this load and good bullets the 7mm-08 is adequate for elk, but is at its best for deer-sized game. — Craig Boddington
