Caliber Dictionary
The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 30 Remington AR (RAR) was introduced in 2008 to provide improved performance on deer-sized game in Remington's R15 semiautomatic rifle. The 30 RAR uses a 1.53-inch case with a rebated rim, based on the 450 Bushmaster case necked down…which was based on the 284 Winchester case. The 30 RAR develops 2800 feet per second with a 125-grain bullet, thus is considerably faster than the 7.62x39mm cartridge. Without question it is a very capable deer cartridge in the AR platform, but it has not gained a lot of popularity. Remington is sole producer of ammunition and primary source of rifles. — Craig Boddington
