Pump shotguns have always been known for strength. And the BPS - with its solid steel construction and select walnut stock and rugged bottom ejection action is the toughest of all. The action of the BPS is sound and reliable. All components are durably constructed of solid steel and are housed inside a receiver machined from a solid block of forged steel. The BPS is built to last - even after years of the most rugged hunting.
Features:
Action: The proven pump action of the BPS is sound and reliable. All components are durably constructed of solid steel and are housed inside a receiver machined from a solid block of forged steel.
Double slide bars, machined from heat-treated steel, eliminate twisting or binding. The result is smooth operation and the ability to stay on target and deliver quick follow-up shots. Serrated slide release located at rear of trigger guard. Bottom ejection throws empty shells straight down, out of your line of sight, and makes the BPS the ultimate pump for right-or-left handed shooters. Bottom loading provides operating convenience.
Barrel: BPS Hunter 12 gauge shotguns feature back-bored barrels and the Invector-Plus choke tube system. High-post, ventilated rib with matted sighting plane provides maximum heat ventilation and raises the line of sight, keeping recoil off your cheek and on your shoulder.
Trigger: Crisp, positive, approximately 4 1/2 pounds.
Magazine Capacity: 3 in magazine, one in chamber.
Receiver: Forged and machined from high-quality bar steel. Serrated slide release located at rear of trigger guard.
Recoil Pad: Standard
Safety: The thumb-operated, top-tang safety on the BPS can be easily operated by right-and left-handed shooters alike, even with gloved fingers.
Safety Lock: All Browning firearms are shipped with a free trigger lock, cable lock, padlock, or chamber lock depending on the model, to assist you in the safe storage of your firearm.
Sights: German nickel silver sight bead.
Stock: Walnut stock and forearm.
Back-Bored Barrels: All BPS shotguns feature back-bored barrels. A bore diameter increased to its maximum allowable specification reduces the friction of the shot charge against the barrel wall. Instead of trying to overcome friction, powder gases expend more energy on the wad base, resulting in an increase in shot velocity. Because there is less constriction or pressure from the forcing cones on a shot charge, there are fewer deformed shot pellets. A greater number of ballistically superior round pellets in a shot charge means more uniform patterns-delivering more shot pellets in the effective part of the pattern. Back-boring works hand in hand with Browning's proven Invector-Plus interchangeable choke tube system. The longer choke taper inside an Invector-Plus choke tube produces patterns with more uniform densities. The shooter will benefit from the cleaner operation.
