The Howa Hogue Lightning rifle is a compact, lightweight rifle that is fast handling and conveniently sized for carry behind the truck seat, on a quad or in the cab of farm equipment. It features a M-1500 barreled action with a lightweight profile barrel bedding in a black Hogue Lightning synthetic stock with textured grip areas. It has a H.A.C.T. 2-stage trigger.

The M-1500 action is made in Japan by Howa who also makes many rifle components for several US gun companies. Howa is the only big bore rifle manufacturer in Japan.

The Howa M-1500 action is the current action found in the new Weatherby Vanguard rifles.
